We needed seagulls to fly around our stage and audience for our production of James and the Giant Peach! I saw the owl puppet, LOVED the concept, and instantly thought..."I've got it!" The owl puppet template fit the bill! Thanks to the pattern to get us started, the students were able to be involved from the beginning, and then we used our own engineering to add a head to bring it all together. Voila! Seagull. Too cute, and probably my favorite scene of the whole show. Thank you!
Using the patterns from Cardboard Adventures, my students created MICE, HORSES and OWLS (+ a hybrid kitty) for our production of CINDERELLA. They had the best time creating and using their creations! THANK YOU!
Working with a hot glue gun can easily burn your Skin. But trusting the process eventually leads to magical creatures. I made one owl in white with wide speaded wings and one owl in brown with different wing positions. The animals have a totally different look and make me smile whenever I hold them.
We made your cardboard owl for our grandchildren's new elementary school with a great horned owl for their mascot. We were happy with the way it turned out with two additions: 1) we covered the body and wings with brown paper (from paper grocery bags) covering the area between the belly and the tail so there wasn't an opening there in the middle of his tummy. 2) We cut the feathers that stick up like horns and added them over the eyes. Then we painted it all. We did end up hanging it by fishing line rather than attaching the poles for it to be used as a puppet because that was what the school wanted. It was a fun project! Thank you!
